Inappropriate Touching

Question: My 4 yr old daughter told on her 7 yr old half brother that he has been touching her privates and putting legos up her butt. Why is he doing this? What am I suppose to think?

Answer: It's really hard to say why some children might do these things. Are you certain that he has not been inappropriately touched by someone else? It's possible that he has just seen it on TV and is mimicking this behavior, but talking to him about it would help the most.

You also definitely want to get both children in to see a therapist that specializes in this sort of thing. They might be able to shed more light on the reasons why he is doing this. The touching could just be the result of curiosity, but the legos part does not seem like a typical curiosity type of behavior.

Seek professional help as soon as possible.
